For the record, yes, my bantams tend to hatch a day or two early. Especially my OEGBs, but their eggs are also particularly tiny.

Same with mine! Those were my first chicken eggs that I incubated, and was surprised to see a chick in there two days early! I've got my OEGB eggs marked now.

Thank you! I cannot return this one as I bought it over 30 days ago. I will definitely look into this one.

It may be out of the "return for any reason" window, but it shouldn't be out of warranty.

Got my candling done.

6 normal eggs either clear or dubious.

Of the 8 pullet eggs most are clear but a few are dubious.

I'll check again on Tuesday and pull the ones that fail the recheck -- which should bring me down to a level of not needing to hand-turn.

Did my candling tonight, hopefully correctly. Definitely down 1 egg out of a dozen and 2 look fairly dubious. I'm guardedly optimistic about the other 9. Quick question, since bantams go into lockdown on day 16, should the 2nd candling be on day 14 or a little earlier?
