I'm sorryTrue! Besides, what's better than a super cute and funny animal that lays amazing eggs?
The Cayugas laid straight through winter their first year. No light or anything.
On another topic - I found one of my Cayuga hens this morning unable to walk or lift her head. She was perfectly fine yesterday. I felt along her neck and near the base, there was definitely some damage. I tried to get her to drink and eat, but she was done for. Died about ten minutes after I found her. Drakes. I had planned to butcher the second drake that I have this weekend as I am not impressed with him. He's half Indian Runner and half Cayuga. He's beautiful but he just stands on the girls and stomps on them. A true @$$hole.
Now he's given me a good reason to off him. He ought to make good dog food.

When I get ducks, I plan on having a drake jail for this very reason. I already have utilized a rooster bachelor pad for this reason too, although I've heard that roosters usually aren't as hard on their girls as drakes are.
