If you can come up with a good date I will come also - I have EE's hatching May 10th and travel to York and Lancaster counties quite frequently to visit family!
For those of you eagerly awaiting the update....I am searching for a location. The feed store's lot was just too small and it's smack downtown so parking would be a bear!
I have two locations closer to me that I am waiting to hear back on. One is a "rodeo ring/fair grounds" kind of place the other is where the 4H does shows. Both have covered areas and barns. I thought these maybe better locals since we could expand this to a small animal/chicken day.
We can use the 4H building and grounds in Leesport, PA. It is a good sized indoor facility with bathrooms and a kitchen/grill. We also have use of the outdoor space that consists of 2 "riding"rings and an observation booth. There are bleachers and tables and chairs for our use. Plenty of parking and space.
We can do small animals inside - chickens (of course), rabbits, etc. we can do small livestock if anyone is interested but space is limited since there is no actual stable area. However, if anyone wants to BST sheep, goats etc, we can make it work.
I will be contacting some local vendors - there is a guy who does "animal art" near me for example - as well as others of that sort. I also will do advertising to get community interest so to make it worth everyone's while to drive.
I need to know how many of you will want to be "vendors" vs. just shopping. That way I can make sure we have space for what ever you need. If you sell other things, bring them!!! We will make a full fledged country fair of it!!! Also, I need to know who will be BST what kind of birds so we can advertise.
Lastly, I have to double check with Dept of Ag about the NPIP stuff. I plan on becoming a "tester". I have to find out when the
next class is and we can set up testing.
Would anyone be interested in doing a "show" of sorts? Also, any ideas to add and make bigger and better, let me know!!! I'm more than happy to do all the leg work, but I need input people. If this is successful we can make it an annual or biannual (spring and fall) thing.
Sarah - looks like I won't be a vendor. I didn't have enough chicks hatch and to be honest I wouldn't know if they would travel that far. I could only imagine what the police would say if they saw me stopping on the side of the road so that I could let the chickies get a drink of water?????
