16-mo old BO hen internal layer? update: Paris necropsy pics (graphic)

LOL@ cheering for poop. I almost made hubby come look- sickie silkie had a teeny tiny totally normal brown solid poop. She doesn't want crumbles- just blueberry cottage cheese. I think we should dehydrate blurberries, and sell it as a cure for chickens who wont eat. Hmmm
Horray for normal poop!!

Good to hear about your silkie! Blueberries, the wonder food! (Antibiotics don't hurt either.)

Paris was outside with me most of the day today, and had normal poop all day (for a bird who is eating mostly blueberries and dandelions and miner's lettuce) meaning it's formed, not watery, and the right color. When I brought her inside, her crop was mostly full from the foraging. I will keep giving her antibiotics until Tuesday morning, then start to integrate her back into the flock.

Sounds like we're both going in the right direction!

Orp and Bizzy, glad to hear the girls are on the mend! I guess I should add frozen blueberries to the list of things to keep on hand for emergencies.

Just remember to put up a splatter shield before you feed them!

Paris is definitely going back to the coop tomorrow. I just put another bird outside with her to see if they would get along, and so far, so good. The others are having a fit about it, though.

While it remains to be seen if Paris can successfully lay an egg, she is out free ranging with all her coop mates. They didn't even flinch. She is eating, pooping, drinking, and socializing again. She is quite skinny, but time will fix that.

Thanks again for all the help!

Thanks, Purpletree! I hope she stays healthy, too. Did you really read this whole thread? It was mighty long.

One of Paris' coopmates started picking on her once I put them to bed for the night, so I put the coopmate in the broody cage. That way Paris can have a night of peace with the others. The coopmate can use a night of solitary confinement. She's been a bit of a bully lately anyway. (And it isn't really solitary. The broody cage is in the coop.)

I keep checking on them. I can't leave well enough alone. I'm like a worried mother hen.
