16-mo old BO hen internal layer? update: Paris necropsy pics (graphic)

time to bring her back in the house. she's going down again. won't leave the nest box, and loose pale yellow poo all over the place in there. I don't want to use Pen G for the third time, and can't find a source for Baytril without a prescription. I am searching for avian vets, but don't have much hope. I think the goal will be to make her as comfortable as possible until the inevitable happens.

I just found an avian vet about 5 miles from here. I'm going to give her a call.

ETA - Have an appointment tomorrow at 8:30am. $58.

Oh, poor Paris!! And you!

You are lucky to have a vet nearby. $58 isn't too too bad. I do hope she can be helped!!

We'll keep our fingers crossed. I googled avian vet, and found her. When I called, and they said yes to chickens, I was surprised. Let's hope it doesn't get hugely expensive.

If she scolds you, just tell her there are LOTS of people who would be more than willing to tar and feather her!!

My last vet scolded me for getting a second cat when my first cat had a chipped tooth. He said I had no business getting a second animal if I couldn't afford a root canal for the first. I haven't been back to a vet since.

(btw, first cat is just fine, and so is the tooth.)

I think you do the best you can for your animals, but pets shouldn't only be for the rich.

Remind her of your nursing background- that commands a certain degree of respect. And that you are now an educator, that also helps. I think your other vet had some "issues".

Good luck, I am hoping for the best.

to you and Paris!
