Hi! I'm new to the forum. At the risk of sounded really dumb (or clueless lol) I literally have no idea if this is a roo or hen. I thought roo for a long time, but now i'm wondering if he/she should be more 'rooish' by now? My broody hen hatched them for me so i know the age is right. The plymouth rock that was from the same batch of eggs is definately a roo. The black orpington i'm pretty sure is a hen, but the buff??? Heres some pics...

About a month old i think

I believe your B.O is a Roo. At 17 weeks my BO barely had anything.

I'm going to go with a little girl. I don't see any sign of pointy feathers back there but as mentioned before, he's still young. My BO roo is HUGE. My official guess is pullet.

My guess is roo, because this is what my 17 week old BO pullet looked like:

Much less in the way of comb and tail...

Of course, my experience with chickens is far from vast.

Welcome!

Thanks for all the replies and welcomes! I had a feeling the majority would say roo. I suppose i just have to wait til he cock a doodle doos to be sure. Really hoping 'he' is just a masculine hen. Ah well, as long as theres no fighting between him and my plymouth rock they will both stay with me (they'd better behave themselves, i don't want to have to choose which one to keep

Thanks again
