Looking at the two brownish-red hens. I think they are sisters but I'm not certain. I do not know the breed. The one sitting down in the first photo has more of a black beak. Have trouble getting a good photo of her as she is more skiddish. She is also in the front in the 2nd photo with my daughter. Can anyone help? Also wondering when this breed starts to lay. Thanks! 20170613_140459.jpg 20170609_192302.jpg

They look like hatchery quality Rhode island reds. How old are they? Most will start laying between 5-6 months of age.

They are 17 weeks. Don't Rhode Island reds have pretty red combs? These have barely any comb to speak of. Or do the combs delevop later? Thanks for helping out a novice!

Looks like rhode island reds to me. Their comb should get bigger and redder in time.

The combs will come as they mature. ...pullets have small, pale combs until they reach the point of lay
