17th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-Along

How long did it take for that chick to hatch?
I honestly don't recall. I'll usually assist if the majority of chicks hatched and there's a few stragglers.

ETA: I only assist if the chick has pipped, otherwise I have a hard time telling where to pip the egg myself.

Yes my first batch due the 17th, is in the hatch-along and I sent in that number set. I'm getting egg-cited!

My second group, the school hatch, is not in this Easter hatch-along but in my own day in the flock one since they will hatch just after this one is done. I had to set that group on a different day, a Monday in school. The goal is to have them hatch around the 20th, the kids get to watch them all week. Then those chicks come home with me and have all of April vacation week to settle in with my home hatch. Then my Meyer chicks shipping the 27th! It sounds more complicated than it is they should all be close enough in age for me to brood them together. :wee

Y'all jinxed me with this Hatch-Along! :lau
I was a good girl and left my incubator in the basement, unplugged and empty. Then I got sidelined with a bum knee and left DS in charge of the chickens. He "forgot" to collect eggs. I now have two broodies setting who knows how many eggs (too many for either of them to cover completely) and no idea how long they've been at it. Apparently their partners in crime have made regular contributions to the illicit nests, so I'm sure set/hatch dates will be all over the place.
They sure picked a heckuva time to break the egg-drought ... and my New Year's Resolution of "No Net Gain!"

That doesn't sound like a problem to me, but my sig says it all

It will be, especially if it's a sign of things to come. I wasn't hatching because I'm waiting on a double knee replacement. The plan was to maintain or downsize until I'm recovered.
DS just shot himself in the proverbial foot. HE's the one who will be taking care of the chickens - and now a grow-out pen - while I'm out of commission. It's almost funny. I'll bet he doesn't forget to gather eggs, next time!

I'm having a similar problem with my son. He usually helps to leg band chicks and clip wings at 6-8 weeks old. He's been putting it off for a few weeks, now we have 20 to do at once. It's usually in groups of 6-8 . . .

After we get caught up I'm hoping he'll be more proactive when I say I need a hand with the chicks.
