Hi guys, I've waited SO long to ask this question again as (like you've all said) sexing silkies- especially breeder quality silkies- are notoriously difficult. Can you guys help me out now that s/he has feathered out more?

I don't either: for the record, s/he is likely the top of the pecking order as I've only seen her/him fighting with my green queen ee bantam (who also was difficult to sex, but is starting to look more like a pullet. My silkie is a full week older than her too, so the power dynamic was most likely set when they were chicks.I dont see any streamer feathers that would indicate male BUT that comb is puffy for a pullet...![]()
Hopefully! This is my only silkie right now and just a hoot to watch. Definitely my toddler's favorite in our small flockI'm thinking pullet
Do you know when silkies generally lay eggs or crow? I used to have a serama rooster growing up with my flock that was the same age as her, but she was always top bird. He crowed and she didn't, BUT they used to fight a lot around week 13. Unfortunately I got rid of my little rooster due to city ordinances but my silkie has never crowed despite his removal.Pullet
The crest on her is definitely rounded now, and is still growing by the looks of it (as there are pin feathers). I'm hoping you guys are rightYup, I am thinking pellet.
