Ok I have a confession to make....You all know how I used to check the nest boxes and behind the shed about 500 times a day looking for those first eggs? Well, it was frosty and cool today, I stayed in my pajamas all day and canned jam and pickles and such while watching chick flicks. Yes I got outta bed at 7am to let the girls out, but didn't even check for eggs till 4pm this afternoon!!!!!!! Enjoy it while it lasts, I miss the excitment of a single egg in the box, and watching for who layed it. The girls are healthy and happy, and for that I am greatful, happy egg collecting for all you guys still!! This picture was around 2pm the girls pecking at the dining room door saying come on out Julie where are you? We like when you hang out in the yard with us all day!

yes made green tomato pickles(my grandmas recipe) taste kinda like bread and butter pickles, yes we lost the bulk of the plants to frost last couple nights so I bagged some in paper bags in cool dark garage and pickled a peck(got 12/16oz jars of pickles) waaaaa I hear ya!!

Awww wish we lived closer together, I'd come over and have a canning party with ya! Oh pears and apples are awsome and pretty darn easy to do. I got a great recipe for pie filling. It's always fun to do it with others, with a few people helping, you can crank out some canning. My boys and husband went "scouting" for hunting spots(sounds like a good excuse for not doing chores hahaha) They took fishing poles?? hmmm I'm not feeling too guilty for the master piece theatre marathon.... I was watching room with a view and my teenage son said in an English pompus accent heading out the door with his gun, " oh my, I think I'll just have to go kill myself rather than watch these stupid movies" hahahha it was hilarious, guess he wasn't interested in my chick flicks about young english girls and their confused feelings and love affairs
