19 and a half weeks old and still no eggs :( egg countdown anyone??

My 16 week old red sex link laid yesterday

I had a feeling it was coming, her comb was very red, she was squatting when I would go to pick her up. Yesterday morning she went into the coop and was in a nesting box, my one roo and leghorn followed her in and when I went to look there was a very pretty brown egg!!! I think the leghorn will be next, her comb is very large and red now too.

I have 6 ISA browns, 2EE's, one black austrolorp, and a buff orpington, all between 16 and 17 weeks. We got our first egg last Tuesday, in the run, and have had one in the box each day since! 2 nights ago another soft egg appeared in the run, and now we are getting 2 in the boxes every day! I am pretty sure it is two of my ISA's that are laying. It's all very exciting to watch!

Oyster shell, free choice, will help put a shell on the egg. This heat though causes them to lay thin shelled eggs anyway so make sure they have enough. You wouldn't want to lose one to being egg bound, and a soft shelled egg can do it.

I have a SLW and GLW that are 20 weeks and we're still waaaaaiting... They are in with my active layers and there are dummy eggs in the nesting boxes, so I hope they see by example or get the memo one way or another about where to lay. We let them free range in the evenings too, and I don't want them to start the habit of laying in the orchard!

I have a SLW who is 20 weeks as well!! Still waiting!

Looky what I found this morning! Just a week ago I was be-moaning my eggless state. Can't believe how big this was for a first egg.

And it was a double-yolker!

This is our egg next to a store-bought egg. Can't believe how much bigger our egg was, especially since it was our first one.

Still waiting here too.......combs are getting nice and read, but no eggs yet! This week they'll be 18 and 17 weeks old........we are getting so anxious here! :)

Here are some of my girls' firsts...The whites are Daisy's, my Leghorn and she was the first to lay of my pullets. The pretty greens are my Ameracaunas, Xena. I have a Barred and an RIR that I am still waiting on!

I have fourteen 17-almost-18 week olds and someone gave me an egg yesterday!! (there were actually two, but one was shelless, so we cleaned that one up right away.) It had a very weak thin shell though

No eggs today :(
