19 and a half weeks old and still no eggs :( egg countdown anyone??

So about adding lemon ... the recipe I've seen for canning apple butters calls for adding "bottled lemon juice" to each jar. But I have a "thing" agains bottled lemon juice and would prefer to use fresh-squeezed lemons. Will I kill us all if I don't use bottled lemon juice? Our lives may depend on you, Julie. :)I am for sure not eating the stuff we found. A few years ago I cleaned out another dark forgotten corner of this house I found some home-canned stuff as old as I am ... Prune Conserve from 1965. Tempting, huh? I probably had to pry it out of Dad's hands ... he'll eat anything ... which might explain why it was hidden away in the first place. I'm just glad I was able to persuade Nelson to eat some home-made strawberry rhubarb freezer jam I made this year. He likes it so much he helped make some blueberry rhubarb freezer jam, too. This is great as I was getting tired of telling him, "NO!" when he begged for store-bought "Grape" jelly. He kept telling me "but it tastes good!" and I kept asking him "compared to what?" Now he knows.Token comments kinda sort on topic: We're building a new section of coop this week before the rain starts. I may discuss it over in the Oregon thread. I've been advised to stay inside while the guys work. But I may just need to go gather some eggs or something so I can steal a look at their progress. I think maybe all our girls except the bantam breeds are laying now.
Leslie, someday I am going to retire to a life like yours

Hey question....I have a soft spot for Oregon, my mom grew up in Albany and then La Grande....and we've been vacationing on the coast since I was a kid....but where is Sherwood?

Well I'm still waiting on my silver campine to start laying and now I have realized that my buttercup is a roo. (How exciting) I'm not very happy. I think I'll keep him around until him and my other roo start fighting, which I'm thinking they won't because the buttercup knows his place. (my older roo likes to frisk the buttercup)
Now that's interesting, I have a golden campine (speedy) and a buttercup. The buttercup has a great red comb and is looking very grown up, she is always interested
in everything (hence her name is nosey) but she hasn't started laying yet, I think the campine and buttercup are so beautiful, really nice and shiny.

so I heard an egg song emanating from the coop a couple of days ago.. so I sneaked over to see what was up, I saw either one of the Brahmas or Cochins exiting
but no eggs were to be found. Haven't heard it since then..

Sherwood is a suburb of Portland, so on the North side of the state. The farm is about 20 miles SW of Portland in the foothills of The Willamette Valley, not too far off I5, along 99W. These hills, the Chehalem Ridge, are great for Pinot Noir wine, so there are vineyards and wineries all around us -- wine is a big deal here now. We are up a little high for it, but some varieties would work if we ever decide to jump on that bandwagon. The closest vineyard is a few feet downhill from us. We have a great view of Mt. Hood from the coop. It is a very lovely spot. The Oregon coast is amazing. We are very lucky here in Oregon to have such diversity and such beauty. It is a good place to vacation.

Wow awesome eggs!! they are huge for pullet eggs, my PBR Gertie is my fattest hen and lays little medium sized creamy brown often double yolk eggs 5 days a week, my three sex links are my best layers and give us jumbo browns everyday, The 3 RIR's are large brown almost daily know too. You guys with the blue and green eggs have the coolest egg baskets, I don't think I've ever seen a silkie banty egg? are they white? or does it depend on the variety of chicken?
This was my Betty White's first egg hahaha see small compared to yours!!

Haha- thanks!! I was so excited that I put out a giant Hubbard squash for them as a thank you.

That little egg is so adorable! I love the color/speckles!

I have no clue on the silky bantam eggs- her main job in my flock right now is to look ridiculous and make hilarious noises. I'm OK with it if that's all she ever does XD

Meh, I don't think this pic does the colors justice, but here's my promised pic of my daily egg basket. My olive egger hasn't laid in days so that is the missing egg from my 10 layers. Enjoy!!

WOW... holy moly. This is my end goal! They are BEAUTIFUL!

Mine are soon to be 21 weeks and no eggs!! I can say that I am not very patiently waiting!!!! My husband just keeps reminding me that a watched chicken never lays... NOT FUNNY!
