DS is reading it now for english 4. The first book he has really read. He has always got the audio book, but this one he wanted to get to read. So far he has said it is great.

Oh no, don't change it. I'm not sure what grade you're in but I used that book as a thesis in an english class. The professor was impressed, but it changed my life. George Orwell wrote it in 1948 into what he thought life would be like in 1984. Note the inversed #s. Here we are talking on a little screen I personally spend most of my day staring at. Literary genius. Animal Farm is excellent, as well. If someone can make you believe 2+2=5, welcome to 2011 America. Just don't get your head stuck in a cage full of hungry rats. P

Wow... Sounds like a pretty powerful book. I'm going to be in 11th grade... so at least I'm not having my innocence torn from me as a wee child.

I did notice the inverted numbers, I wonder if that has any significance...

I thought it was an excellent book. I also recommend Brave New World. We read them one after another in Highschool. I reread 1984 about a year ago and understood so much more. The ending really makes you think.

I don't think it will give you nightmares. It's not really scary, persay!
