Yeah, its really cool!
Our eggs never get washed until time for consumption. We get alot of eggs. They go unwashed into a basket on the counter for a month or more sometimes. The kids were so excited today as one of the hens blessed us with the first egg! My question is.... the egg was layed not in the nesting box, but was layed in the chicken run in a tote on its side which was kinda dirty after the rain yesterday. So if we wash the egg off, will it be okay to eat or should we not chance it since it wasn't layed in a nice layer of clean straw in the nesting box?
I blew out each of my four hens' first eggs and saved themAwesome! Thanks everyone! It was the neatest thing seeing the little egg in the morning. Now I want to make cute little nesting box curtains for them. So fun
