1st Generation Blue Australorps Hatched in Arizona!

I now have 5 baby Australorp chicks from Rattlesnake Ridge. They are about 2 1/2 weeks old now. 2 are the splash (and I think one of those are going to be a roo), and 3 of the blues. Are you still doing your blues?

Never mind. I did get 2 Blue pullets and a Black pullet who will be getting close to POL soon (from the Hupp Farm Line through Chase). I will be breeding them with my Splash Australorp cockerel that I have (from Rattlesnake Ridge through Kurt) who is already fertile.

Yes!........we finally did it! we've waited nearly 2 years to develope our blues. its been a long process but worth the wait.

they hatched out yesterday and today, with only 8 making the grand entrance to the brooder.

in order to make them an accepted variety here in the states according to the a.p.a., we need more australorp breeders interested in participating with me to develope and maintain this variety that is already in the standards of australia and europe.

the a.p.a. wants at least 5 breeder that can document their breedings for 5 years. then put on a blue australorp a.p.a. sanctioned show, then let them determine if the variety is worthy of the "standard of perfection".

ive run acrossed some breeders online on different poultry pages but have never kept in touch or visa versa.

anyone intersted?

or know of anyone who might be?

looking forward to some replies

thanks

Im very interested but live in phoenix.

In case anyone in the Phoenix area is interested in breeding for the Blue Australorps, I still have 6 three week old chicks still available. They are active and developing well, plus eating and drinking good. I still have them in a brooder in the house, but I no longer have a heat lamp on them. There are 2 pullets, and 4 cockerels. I want the pullets to be sold to someone who will also take a cockerel. If you are interested in breeding them, then send me a pm here.

When I went out to feed, water, and collect eggs yesterday, I had to laugh. In the pen that my young Blue Australorp rooster is in, he was trying to breed with a Black Australorp hen in there, and one of the Blue Australorp hens chased him off the Black hen. He has been trying so hard with them. Anyways, just out of curiosity, I cracked open 2 of the eggs from that pen to check to see if he was managing to do anything. One of the eggs was fertile and one was not, so it shouldn't be much longer until all the girls start surrendering to him, I think. I really love his coloring.

Is anyone else still breeding the Hupp line B/B/S Australorps? I hope that this line hasn't died out. The one's that I have now are mixed with the Rattlesnake Ridge line, but I'm still looking for some more to help to keep them going.

Sorry I haven’t been breeding my splash orp Roo died a couple months of go and I got rid of my blue australorp Orphington cross Roo a few months ago he was growing huge!!! One the biggest Roos I have ever had but he was a very skittish bird which I didn’t like I like birds that follow u around so I got rid of him
