1st Hatching Journey - Little Giant

I'm thinking cardboard won't last more than one hatching as it'll get damp and dirty and impossible to clean. Wish I knew someone with a larger 3D printer than mine. Thinking.....

An aluminum sheet that I could cut with tin snips should work. And it might even act as a heat sink.

If it were me, I would try to find something you can attach to ends of rail nubs. Even a small block of wood cut to the height you need with a notch on top of block for rail end nub to rest in on each end. You could put a screw in each side of block to limit turning angel. This way everything is still open for good air circulation and nothing interfering with eggs. Hopefully I explained what I see in my head :lau

Oh, you're right! The eggs need to poke out the bottom of the rails. Thanks for pointing that out.

Wouldn't wood get moldy?

Not sure I understand the screw you mentioned and how to get it to stay at a certain angle.
 
This is better. When the incubator comes, I can make a wooden frame to attach the aluminum bits to.

I like the inventiveness of what you're trying to do with the quail rails in making a semi-automatic turner, but I'm curious as to why. Amazon and eBay have the 6300 turner available for less than $70. It's automatic, you don't have to open the incubator to turn the eggs and it's durable. I don't use my LG incubator anymore, but I use the turner for holding and turning eggs for a week while I collect them. After a week, they either get eaten, go into the fridge for future eating or go into an incubator.

To save $65 basically. I'm not sure I'm even going to like this incubator. A lot of people hate on it. So we'll see. Maybe I'll get the auto turner later.
 
I had a gift card and only spent $31 for the incubator itself.
That and saving the $65 make perfect sense. I wasn't overly impressed with the LG even though I added a Borotto SIRIO Humidity Pump to automate the humidity. I ended up eventually buying a Brinsea Ovation 56 EX. It keeps temperature and humidity excellently, but I can't believe I paid that much for an incubator :th
