The tiny incubator got pretty crowded last night with 2 more vigorous chicks walking all over the weaker one who had just emerged and 4 intact eggs still taking up real estate. So we moved the "older" ones to a dog kennel cum brooder cage.
I put in a dustmop which was the fluffiest and most hen butt thing I could find. It allowed them to cozy up and to climb closer to the heat of Mama Heating Pad.
They spent the night there and 3 more had hatched by the time we got up. The one we were concerned about last night is looking robust this morning. That makes 5 out of 7 hatched.
They all have the same French Black Copper Marans father and Blue or Lavender Orpington or Cream Legbar or Golden-laced Wyandotte mothers and they all look the same very dark grey color but 2 of them seem to have the Orpington grey feet.
