Thank you.. I sure hope they are fine.. After looking at the eggs again.. I think I see only 2 that are not doing the small end tilted down thing now.. Thats what I was thinking, maybe that is so they will pip at the right end?? Im new so have no idea.. And I have never even watched a hatch.. And my home made incubator, well it is a bit iffy.. I really need to get some thing to tell the humidity too..

P.S..
I havent had time to read all the *stickys*. I have two small kids at home. And eggs to watch.. But I have read quiet a few.. Im still clueless.. And a bit nervous that this wont work.. I have a 6 year old, she gets sad at the thought of them all being "dead".

If no thermostat, best NOT to even try, just killing them for no reason. If you cant buy an incubator,or proper parts for home made one. Buy a setting hen. Small for quail. larger hen for others.

Gee, grouchy much, Twigg? No, actually I haven't ever read a post of yours that I recall. I do have a few other things to occupy my time here. I am fine with my post and I won't apologize for a simple question. Have a lovely night.

Thank you every one for your advice.. I sure wish I had a thermastat.. But dont know how to wire one to it.. I made this incubator before I found this site, and its information. I saw that there is an incubator called a chick-bator.. It only uses lights to hatch.. So I figured I could to.. I hate to have them die too.. But dont even know if they were alive to start with.. These eggs were headed for the trash any way, and they were just given to me to try... If this doesnt work, I think I will just toss it out.. Save the parts.. And sell stuff I own on ebay so I can afford a real incubator.. Then try again..

But still I am hoping for the best...
My incubator keeps a temp. of 100 with just small fluxuations.. Sorry for typing errors...

The waiting is just killing me...
But I wont give up...

Yes , but the chick-a-bator fail to hatch very many. I got one years ago for my son to watch eggs hatch, pure junk threw it in the trash.

If you find a thermostat, sure you can wire it up with help from here.Really not that hard.

Can you please direct me to the links for these topics on putting a thermastat in a homemade incubator. For a newbie to this site.. Im still trying to learn my way around this place.. And there is not enough hours in a day..

Good thing I never bought one of those chick-bators. I was thinking about it..

Does the thermastat turn the lights out if it gets to hot.. I dont understand how it would work.. If it was designed for some thing else..

Thank you all.... Im learning.. But this is all so new to me..

P.S. Where would I get a thermastat?? The hardware store? Which kind??

Chick bators pretty much suck. Most people end up putting them in styrofoam containers to maintain the temp.

Oh my gosh.. I cant believe it.. I got one baby Button Quail.. Even against all the bad odds.. I was going to throw the eggs out yesterday.. Good thing I didnt.. I'm going to name it LUCKY... If it is strong enough to hatch.. I sure hope it is strong enough to live on its own, with no other baby buddies..
