No more little ones.. It hatched around 3:00pm. It is now 10:30pm.. I dont see any pips.. I never even saw its egg rock or pip before it hatched.. I went to the store, came back and there it was.. I have seen it eat and drink.. But it appears to be very lonely.. Every time I call it, it comes running to me.. CUTE..
Im hooked.. My hubby now is going to let me buy a real incubator as soon as we can afford it..
I just build my fitrs own homemade incubator 19/09/2008 the temp inside are 102 at the top of the egg witch seems right but when it's time for turning the eggs do not feel that warm.
I make use of forced air, still air got to hot.
Is there any thing to fear or is it just no knowlege off first time.
12 eggs in incubation
Then can someone tell me how the eggs must lay, on there side or upstraid
thanks

Yep that's what quail do. I checked mine, saw no progress, sat down at my computer, and start hearing this weird peeping noise that didn't seem to be coming from the chickens. I notice the dog is sniffing the incubator so I go over to look and there's a button quail dashing around all over the place. Pretty soon I had 4 buttons. Wait at least 24hrs before giving up on the rest. Then I can never throw an egg away without chipping a hole in it to make sure the chick is dead or find out why the egg didn't hatch.

The same here maybe if you study them so close with a branddy beside you, you can see a rock or pip

I waited another 24 hours and then carefully put a small hole in the big end of the eggs.. And slowly chipped away at it till I could look inside.. I found 3 dead chicks.. Dead for at least a few days.. Didnt fill the hole inside of the egg.. The rest looked like regular eggs.. Yolk and white.. I didnt expect any eggs to hatch.. Plus it got to hot once or twice.. Then the electricity was out for 4 hours.. Very lucky to have one chick..
Got pictures of him.. Have to see if I can figure out how to post them..
