Hi all, newbie to BYC, hatched out 4 quail on the 22nd oct, 1 died in the brooder, 3 fine and thriving. Then 2 nights ago (29th) 1 started lying on its side with 1 leg stretched out and looking like it is gasping, it would scrabble around on its side. I thought for sure it would be dead in the morning. Nope running around as normal. Today it started doing it again for about an hour, now its fine again.
Brooder is a huge round glass bowl with rubber matting, crumbles and water with marbles and heat bulb. 1 is double the size of the other 2, one of which is having the turns.
Normal behavior, eat drink, poop and sleep. Any ideas what may be wrong. TIA :)

Welcome to BYC. I don't know much about quail, but most birds can suffer from a vitamin deficiency or wry neck. Wry neck can include a twisted or drooping neck, or running incircles or backwards. I would treat the water with chick vitamins, especially vitamin B vitamins, vitamin E, and a little raw or cooked egg for selenium. You might also want to post on the quail forum here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/48/quail

Here is some reading about wry neck:
