the chick here looks paint to me (I/i+). Paint varies depending on genes like melanisers.Totally off subject, but did you see the above pics of the 2 chicks hatched from my WTB and marans roo? I'm curious what your take is, I assumed she was dominant white because the chicks hatched from her and my black English orp roo were paint. This is one of them from a couple years ago.
The thing is, dominant white does not mask everything like recessive white, it only replaces black. As a result, any red which would show still appears on dominant white or paint birds. The leakage is a result from the autosomal red and birchen gene of the marans.
Since your copper marans likely don’t carry recessive white, for the offspring to even be white shows you the dam has a dominant white gene.
