Change of plans

Totally off subject, but did you see the above pics of the 2 chicks hatched from my WTB and marans roo? I'm curious what your take is, I assumed she was dominant white because the chicks hatched from her and my black English orp roo were paint. This is one of them from a couple years ago.
the chick here looks paint to me (I/i+). Paint varies depending on genes like melanisers.

The thing is, dominant white does not mask everything like recessive white, it only replaces black. As a result, any red which would show still appears on dominant white or paint birds. The leakage is a result from the autosomal red and birchen gene of the marans.
Since your copper marans likely don’t carry recessive white, for the offspring to even be white shows you the dam has a dominant white gene.
I’ll show you some photos of my own similar cases in a bit.

Hope this helps.

That makes sense, thank you! At least I can add a few more colors to my OE list, lol

Lots of updates: Sansa's hatch turned into a disaster, Betty got in the nest to lay (no biggie) 2 eggs got broke and she ate them, the last egg got covered in yolk and I think died from bacteria 😞 I put her in the grow out pen for a few days and she's right as rain now. Betty had another laying incident but this time partially prolapsed. I got her all squared away, but she hasn't laid since. 2 of the OE's and Fiona (WM) are going to their new home next weekend. I'm keeping the blue one that looks like a blue copper marans. Gotta find this orp/marans cockerel a new home (he's so handsome) I'll probably let the little wheaten Marans pullet from his hatch go with him. They go in the coop every day and hang out under the fan, lol
