I have 2 hens broody, one is about to hatch 6/2 and other went broody yesterday. I seperated the first one from the flock to her own coop. Do you think I could put the second one in the same coop to do her mama thing with the first one or would there be a conflict between them? caging the coop in half is not really an option as it is only 5x8 I'm tired of building coops as I have 3 already what do you think. Remember thay are almost 3 weeks apart.

I have 5 chicks right now that have two mamas. They sat on the eggs together, and hatched together, and what was the neatest part was they took turns getting off the eggs to eat, drink and poop. One would leave and the other would stay. Pretty cool. I'd think if they get along well at other times, they should be ok, but if they start squabbling over the eggs, then separate them. They might fight over the newly hatched chicks too.

If they went broody at the same time I would have stuck them together My concern is the first one is about to hatch in a few days and Introducing the second one now that she just started sitting, this I do not know about. Hey if the first hen would adopt the second as a nanny and keep them both happy without the second having a clutch that would be great. Or the second having a clutch that would be great too. I am not sure if the first hen will get aggressive or the second one at that. I am just learning chicken behavior. When we were kids we had chickens but nobody really cared for them they were on there own, free ranging coming and going as they pleased sleeping in the pine tree etc etc all of a sudden here comes a mama with 20 peeps following her. That is how it was but today is quite different. Any input is appreciated thanks.

I have 2 that went broody at the same time 3 days ago, i tried to put them in there own large crates, and they just go nut and broke eggs, and as soon as i open the door, they come running out and go right back to the nest box they went broody in. one is up high about 3 1/2 feet and the other on is 1 feet from the floor.

and now all the other girl haven't layed i only got 4 eggs in last 3 days, and i think what is happening is the other girls go in the next box with them and lay the egg, so now i cant figure out what was just layed and what has been sitting there.
