2 Cayuga Girls & 1 Cayuga Drake

That is my concern too, because one drop of oil down the trachea could cause lipoid pneumonia, which could be fatal.

On the other thread they said to “dip four or five times” so there was never any discussion of using a syringe but maybe that wouldn’t make a difference?

Did you ask them how they are going to get the grit out of her? Is she keeping the fluids down?

So she was just dunking her head, drinking & blowing bubbles. She also was sorting pellets so maybe she was looking for grit?

Her idea for removing the grit doesn’t make sense to me: Dr said she would sedate her, and she said it’s unlikely Mama will survive sedation, and then she’ll try to manually remove the grit. I honestly don’t see how it would work. Does it make sense to you?

I heard her talking to the other doctor & when he asked her what she was going to do she said she had no idea. When she came back into the room she was, hmm, dismissive.

She really didn’t want to answer my questions & I think it’s because of what she said when I asked if it made sense to put Mama under. What she said was this, “I honestly don’t know what else to do.”

I’m not comfortable putting her under when the expectation is that she won’t survive the anesthesia let alone manually removing it doesn’t seem like a viable option. Seriously, how much grit can she remove MANUALLY?

On the other hand if what I saw on the X-ray is grit then I the part at the top is leaning on Mama’s heart.

I don't see how she can manually remove the grit either unless they have some kind of special instrument. I have been reading on line about this and other than surgery I just don't know how they can get the grit out especially if it isn't in her crop area but below. Call an ask what this procedure entails because you have the right to know what they intend to do.
