What’s the news on Mama to day?

No news.

She spent the day @ the clinic & she was given pain med, stool softener & one round of SubQ fluids. She swam twice in their pool. No pooping & no eating. The doctor did a digital exam & said she could feel one rock solid blob.

Definitely not encouraging.

We sure hope so. The doc said she was surprised by how laid back the CA doc was about it b/c she’s kinda freaking out.

Yes, she’s home now, but we’re going to take her back tomorrow & Friday so they can administer one round of SubQ each day & they’ll do the meds too (one is a pill).

They added another med in case she has a bacterial infection.

Speer didn’t think we would need to do anything else. If you have any ideas please let me know as our vet is openly ideas.

What kind of grit was it? I'm thinking about the nature of the rock solid blob and what would be most likely to cause it to crumble.

They had granite grit available in their duck enclosure. When she started acting strange they had been spending an hour - 2 hours every day outside. We are high desert so our soil is sandy. None of it makes any sense to be honest.

I can ask about it although the vet is off until Monday. I might be able to get a message to her though.

Dr Speer told her this is a common issue for birds & he actually made a joke out of it. It doesn’t appear as if she asked him any questions re at what point should everything be coming out.
