I got 10 Silkie chicks from a lady. The night I got them I noticed one was keeping an eye shut, by the next day it was both. I used antibiotic eye drops, and I’ve kept the eye cleaned off. The area around its eye and beak are constantly “matted” for lack of better term. I’ve recently added Tylan 50 orally daily, but it doesn’t seem to be doing much either. I usually get a sticky, grey-ish discharge. I’m not sure how to tell if it has nasal discharge or not. It eats and drinks and plays, but it also just lays under the heat lamp at times. But in contrast to its hatch mate, if I swoop in to do something, it’ll usually run.

Now it’s hatchmate…it just started acting off in the last week. Doesn’t move a lot, doesn’t react to much. Does eat and drink but largely sits under the heat lamp fluffed out. No discharge or anything that I’ve noticed.

Both were hatched 3/6. They’re both fully 1/3 of the weight of their siblings. (2.6 and 2.0 ounces respectively to the 6.7 ounces of a hatch mate).

I asked the lady I got them from, and she hasn’t had any illnesses in her flock or in other chicks from her.

I’ve got nutri-drench and we have done that some, as well as Hydro Hen.

The lighter colored one is the one we’ve had the eye issue with, whereas the darker one is the one who has suddenly gotten lethargic.

All of the other chicks I have are fine, including their hatch mates.

They’re still chugging on. Peep, the one with the eye issue, will wander some, but the other doesn’t really do much. Got them in a separate container so the bigger birds don’t run over them. Big difference between 2-2.5 ounces and 9 ounces.

Got some (hopefully) better images this evening of Peep as I flushed their eyes out.
