2 Crazies setting Buckeye eggs today--anyone want to join?

OK, I candled and we have 6 in lockdown. One must have quit long ago, good thing it didn't explode. I am usually much better at candling around day 10. Things have been crazy here though.

2 were from BE1 and the other 4 did not have any info on them James. So you know which pens are working best. Humidity is at 57 and I will work on that. I would like at least 60.

BE1 is the rooster(Faulk) that fathered the birds that won at the Ohio Nationals breed back to his daughters. If you get a roo from BE1 I would use him on any hens you get from the unmarked eggs or they may be marked BE2.The unmarked eggs are a very nice roo from Chris lines breed to faulks daughters.

This is the roo of the unmarked eggs and the hens.I don't have a picture of Faulk but he is the man!

maybe this helps for those wondering about the markings on the eggs.

The egg wash might not have been oxine, but it was a chlorine solution of some kind, and it seems like it was a duck hatchery that had great luck. I am doing a washing experiment currently, One half of all the buckeye eggs I hatch this season will be washed in a betadine solution. I chose this because they use it in whooping cranes, and if its good enough for an endangered species, I guess its good enough for and endangered breed. They are randomly divided each day and half of them are washed soon after collection. Each pen is divided to try to get as fair a trial as possible. Other than that, they are treated the same. I hope to see if there is any difference in the hatch rate.
