2 cute 8 week old EEs. What do you think now?

My EE's are the hardest to say; they may defy all the usual rules of sexing; Some chicks I can tell the day they emerge; some are obvious at a day to a week. Usually I know for sure by a month, but my EE's have constantly confused me until the comb and saddle feathers mature (or they start crowing, laying, insert obvious sign.) My knowledge is very limited on this as far as being able to explain by observation, but so far when I know I'm right, I'm right.

When I'm pretty sure I know, I may be 30% wrong.

And w/ EE's, I'm usually certain I have no idea.

Yours would fall into the last category. I think they could both go either way, but I hope they are both girls for your sake. I have one mutt olive egger baby that came out presenting like a Bresse (and I know the Bresse had to be at least 3 gens back and only on one side) and the tail shot out long like females are supposed to do.?

One of the original 4 chicks I purchased as a Columbia Rock pullet turned out to be a roo with the most perfect comb you've ever seen. The mancub named him Heather originally and it stuck. We lost that Heather and so he named this one Heather, certain it was a girl this time. Now Heather #2 has developed pointed saddle feathers, and otherwise still looks and acts basically like a beautiful gender neutral at 5.5 months old. So I am convinced at this point that naming a chicken Heather will magically turn it into a rooster. It will probably become a popular name for male humans within the next couple of decades, for that matter, the way baby names are going.

I have 8 week old hatchling ameraucanas I'm hoping are mostly female due to the difference in the wing feather lengths. I was reading up on that when I found this post; IDK how breed specific this is, but if they had the obvious difference in wing feather length (primary being much longer,) that is supposed to be a sign of a female, all same length male; I haven't found proper info on what breeds this is characteristic of, but since EE's are generally Ameraucana mutts, who knows… the more I search, the more conflicting the info becomes..

I found this post: https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/ameraucana-chick-wing-sexing-photos.745269/
mustangsaguaro maintains there is no way to know unless you're familiar w the parents, so that puts me back at square one.

Sorry to blah blah so much on yer thread, but I've spent so much time looking for reliable info on the subject and ended up here. Again, hopes they is girls. Keep us posted.
