Where did you get them from? Some places don't label them properly -- Tractor Supply Co. is pretty bad at labeling their chicks correctly. I once bought so-called, "Southern Ramblers," and ended up with some kind of crested black bird that looked like a Sultan cross-breed.

Oh yeah. You can consider all tractor supply chicks straight run, and the breeds are essentially nonexistent. In the future (trust me, chicken math will strike-there will be more chicks!) I"d recommend ordering from a hatchery.

My Wyandotte "pullet" might be a cockerel... I really hope not... it'd be the first pullet-turns-out-to-be-a-cockerel mistake in four years of buying them from there! Plus, I already have two bantie roosters!

They go by what they're told via the shipper, and it's not necessarily accurate. Many chicks look alike. Sometimes you just have to wait for true feathers before you know for sure what you have.

I have assorted brown layers via Tractor Supply, I'm very happy with the assortment!

While they try to go by what they're told, there are often several breeds in the same bins, or chicks hopping between bins. The sexed females and males (even with sex links) get mixed together often as well.

Pics? I'm basing this off of BYC knowledge, but from what I've heard TSC is not great at the whole 'keep female and male chicks separate' thing. I was wondering as well....does it default to that? it happened on my post too.

My local TSC had cornish chicks labeled as white Leghorns

Any place that has the open stock tank brooders is asking for trouble! Easy to put wrong baby in wrong bin
