Here is some info on niacin and ducks that I found:

I stick with the this that niacin is poorly available in natural foodstuffs.so supplementation May be necessary . We all have to make up our own minds what’s best for our birds but I’d have a real hard time sitting around hoping my duckling would start-standing and walking or walking without being weak in the legs or lame permanently is there was something I could try that might help him.

Chick feed does not have enough niacin for ducks, and some ducks require more niacin that's in Flock Raiser or other all flock feeds.
It actually doesn't have enough of everything needed to balance the nutrition needed for Ducklings...

Yes, and niacin is a deficiency that has the symptom of limping. Limping means the duck cannot go and do what it loves to do. We fix this issue by supplementing their feed with Brewer's Yeast, or Vitamin B3 or whatever it is.

Exactly...Now Niacin can be fed in many other forms of feed and not needed in the form of brewers yeast. Proper feed from the start is needed. All I'm saying. :frow
Bottom line is Ducklings require a special balance in nutrition..

As I said in the beginning, most of us don't have access to specialized duck feed, which is why we must supplement. Niacin is one of the most prevalent deficiencies in ducklings and when a duck starts limping, most of the time it is a niacin deficiency.

I use Nutritional yeast for my self and my flock it's a really good natural way to get the B vitamins essential for a healthy body. I am not saying every one should do this but gosh we have so many members coming back and saying how the niacin helped their little duckling recover I don't even know why there is a negative review of this.
Amen!!!!!:bow:bow:bow

My ducks are full grown and have never ever had a niacin deficiency cuz I gave them Brewers yeast(another form of niacin). I still give it to mine and they have such fast little legs(you should have seen them when I gave them meal worms today). I say, cuz I am giving them chicken feed, to give them brewers yeast just as an added supplement. Also the brewers yeast that I buy has garlic in it and o my goodness garlic is one of the best supplements for ducks. Here you guys can check out an article of mine for some supplements I give my ducks. https://www.backyardchickens.com/forums/ducks.42/ Scroll down and you will find supplements there.
