So I've seen a lot of similar questions, but wanted to see other opinions. I have 5 day-old chicks coming next week from mypetchicken. I stopped at the feed store today and left with 2 week-old chicks (so they'll be 2 weeks old next week when the new babies come).

Since there are only two, and I'll be getting 5 new babies, would it be okay to put them together in the brooder?

That works out to an age gap of just a little over one week, which should not be significant enough to pose much of a problem in and of itself.

I have had a similar experience. At the time I added week old chicks to 3 week old chicks, 3 of each age, the 3 week old chicks attacked the one week old babies. It got ugly really quick! I had to separate them in a segregated brooder where they could still see each other but not touch. They've been in the brooder like that for a week now. I'm still very hesitant to remove the dividerbbecause the older ones are nearly twice the size of the younger ones now. Might be worth it to figure out a way to segregate them for a week or so just in case.

I will try to find a set up to separate them if need be. Thanks! I hope yours work out okay!

Well, they're already a week old now (in fact, now that they're home, one may even be a few days older), so by next week they'll be 2 weeks. And I'm getting day old baby chicks.
