My sweet little Pippy passed last night. She'd been dealing with salpingitis for 15 months. I'll bury her next to Sunny in the garden.

She gave me a fluffy butt Valentine at some point last year.

This is my favorite picture of her. I know I've posted it many times.

Fly high and free, dear, sweet little Pippy!
Our poor hens & their reproductive issues! So-o sorry you lost valentine Pippy:hugs

I think Gizmo is going to be a great rooster. I watched him break up a stare down between two of the other littles. He also likes to View attachment 4139057 on my lap and watch me text on the phone. He jumped right into the middle of the stare down just before the fighting began. Friends, these are old English fighting birds. I cannot tolerate the lineage of their parents and grandparents, so I’m trying to break the chain.
To break up the aggressiveness in future chicks the meanies have to be culled/removed from any mating to possibly stop the fighting temperament from being passed on. Keep us informed whether breaking up aggressive stares changes any of their current fighting instincts. Gizmo seems like a promising intervener among his tribe💕

So very sorry for your loss. And that heart shaped fluff was spectacular! :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs

Oh Misty. That is not wise. You have a fine beard and muffs but I would submit they are uniform in color and really do not stand out like this magnificent set does. I hope for your benefit Aurora does not find out about your boast. I am going to keep it from her. If Phyllis was still here she would show Aurora right away.

The quintessential beard and muffs.

Angel says she knows hers will never be as spectacular as Aurora’s, but she is working hard on her future beard and muffs. She keeps begging me to plant habanero peppers in the garden.

The ducks are enjoying your hard work AND the bricks you chose ~ those are costly pavers so it's rewarding to see them appreciate it❣️
They weren’t nearly as bad as some I have seen. Less than $2 each. But definitely glad to see them appreciated.

Breezy is too fat polite to chase the girls when they say no to his breeding requests, so he goes to his lovely bucket instead.

Look how HUGE he is! He's bigger than Buffy!

This side by side with Cemani also shows how much of a chunk Breezy is.
I feel some judgment in your description of Breezy. If he has to take on a hawk you will be glad he's a "chunk".

Happy Monday everyone.
Broody Tassels mugshot.
No matter she has been sitting for 25days. Mostly on nothing (though she accepts gifts from her flock). She is as broody as ever!

You wanted a black chicken. Be careful what you wish for.....
