2 week old chicks outside in the run

Our hen, Alice, hatched her four chicks on May 29th in the coop outside and we've let them out to scratch around every day for the past week when it's been warm enough (70+ degrees). They are having a ball out there with their mom scratching and digging and taking dirt baths. I didn't think it was possible, either, to safely let babies this age run around but we only do it when we're out there watching them and Alice protects them with her life, too. I would say it's ok to do it but make sure you're out there with them.

Sounds like you've thought it out pretty well. The mama hen would be letting them out and about, then they would run back to her for warmth when they needed it.

Just be sure they know where to run for warmth!
