Hi chicken experts, I have 2 Welsummers bought as pullets, now they are 16 weeks.

I figured they are both girls because the boys are supposed to have black on the chest. They both look to have hen coloring. But one of the Welsummers have a lot bigger and redder comb and wattle than the other?

Why is that? And are they both girls?

Ya both pullets.
Females combs usually really jump in size and color when they reach maturity and get closer to laying. Your one is just a little quicker getting there then the other.

That makes a lot of sense. I’m excited that one is close to laying!
