2 years of loving chickens....how things change. :)

I was driving down the freeway and very very hungry (most 18 year olds that run off with their boyfriend and think they can live on love alone go through something like this I think) Anyway, I saw this chicken fall out of a big semi truck full of chickens that I am assuming were going to processing and I decided that was my dinner. It was alive and scared and I put it in the cab of the pick up with me. I kept shoving it away because I did not want to be friends with my dinner. After much persistence from the chicken, it ended up snuggling up next to me and ultimately jumped up on my steering wheel at 75 mph.

So there I am driving up I-5 in Oregon with this chicken perched on my steering wheel looking at me like I was its savior. I fell in love and dropped (what I now know was a meat bird) off at the duck pond enclosure at Oregon State University in Eugene.

I ended up eating some hot dogs and stale bread from a food bank that night.

The rest is history. Now 15 years later, I have at least 200 birds at any given time and I do everything in my being to spread the word to others about how wonderful these creatures are.
