20% all flock feed

shipping is free I have Amazon Prime

Shipping is free even without Prime (usually), but they sure know how to bake in ship costs anyhow.

Had to order a bag of hemp bedding since no one sells them locally. They bake in about $30 in ship costs onto the price, but I'd have to pay shipping even if I ordered directly from source, so just can't win sometimes. :)

I use the All Flock feed from TSC ( Nutrena Naturewise) at this time, because I have different age chickens- pullets and hens. When the pullets get to point of lay- probably by the time the feed bag is empty, I will go back to Layer Feed until the next time I get chicks- probably in a couple of years.

TSC doesn't have much choice on the all flock feeds. The only one they had when I needed more was Nutrina Naturewise. Any comments on that feed?
TSC has a new (new to me anyway) all flock feed - Dumor 17% All Flock which is a mini pellet. https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/tractor-supply-dumor-17-all-flock-pellet-50-lb-3006315-206 The calcium range listed online is incorrect, it's actually 0.70 to 1.2 %. I tried it on a lark; I had about 50 lbs left of Nutrena Feather Fixer which they aren't crazy about, so I was looking for something to mix in, for wet mash. They seem to really like it, and one of my special needs hens LOVES it dry, I guess bc of the mini size... I may have to keep buying it, just for Mitzy :)

As for Nutrena All-Flock, my birds always liked it - there's a poster of it hanging in their coop! But I can only get it at one store in town, and they're not doing curbside pickup. TSC is easier, so I switched to Purina Flock Raiser, which is a crumble. Everybody loves it.

I have 20% all flock with OS and egg shells on the side too, as I have a cockerel. All my birds are about 9 months, and the three pullets are going through a partial molt. They aren't laying at all, so Wolfwalker, I'm jealous. I figure I might start getting eggs around my birthday in February. Sigh.

The Nutrena Naturewise is what I’ve been using. Don’t think there’s any problem with it. I’ve had wondering myself about the 20% feed as opposed to 16%. Everyone on here seems to be doing what I have , so hopefully I’m okay. I had my first vent prolapse yesterday and I always question myself as to “ what am i doing wrong when something happens “! This morning another one of my girls that typically lays the smallest eggs laid a huge one and streaked with a little blood! There again, I questioned if I’m doing something wrong!

I see a streak of blood on an egg every so often. It has always been a one time thing, not always the same bird, so I've never worried about that.

Turned out to be a double yolk, second one I’ve had, two different hens! Could that be from 20% feed?

I feel it's better for mixed ages and sexes since they are not being forced to consume calcium that they may not need in layer feed. You should have oyster shell available in a separate feeder all the time so that those that do need the calcium can take what they need
This exactly. I also prefer 18-20% protein feed, and the hens are always able to determine how much calcium they need better than I can. I had more defective eggs and hard molts on a 16% layer feed than the 18% I get now.

That's genetics, not diet. Just offer supportive care. :]
