20-week-old pullet...started crowing...Looks nothing like a roo! Help

I have been looking at your pictures again today. Your chicken we have been discussing is not an Araucana cross (unless you live in Britain).

My Marans and Easter eggers usually start laying between 24-28 weeks.

Hi Enola,

I am sure you are right. It seems that out here in the Pacific NW, there is a general label of "Araucana, Ameraucana, and Easter Egger" which I imagine is due to the colored eggs. I'm SO NEW to this, that I am still learning the differences myself.

So mine is likely a copper marans/ameraucana mix (due to the muff?), correct? And it would lay olive eggs if it's a girl?

They are at 19-20 weeks, so I guess I need to chill out for another month or two. :) My contributions on BYC should probably quiet down a bit then. ;) haha

Well....... I guess I should have said that particular cross of breeds would lay olive eggs, or at least some shade of green......

If you don't mind, is this girl a cross between ameracauna and Cochin? She seems to have lacing as well. I'm curious. You seem to be very gifted at ID'ing breeds. :) oh she is also 20 weeks old.

Pullets do not crow. This is a slow developing cockerel. Hens won't crow unless there is no rooster in the flock.
We have a Silver Spangled Hamburg that crowed as a pullet even though we have a roo that grew up with them. She doesn't do it often, but you can definitely tell that it's a crow and not some other noise. Now that she's two years old, she almost never does it, but she sure scared the pants off me a time or two.
