I really ought to go... putting the finishing touches on DH's grandma's quilt. I gotta get it done and washed soon so we can go over and give it to her before DH has to go to work! Yes, I'll take pictures when it is done, I promise!

Marlin glad to see ya back on here. My sister bought one of those paid over $7000 on sale over $9000 regular price. That baby threads itself and sews by itself LOL. Makes some beautiful stuff it does. I want to buy a used one but at $3000 used and that is without asscesories I am really dragging my feet. It does embroider so it would be worth it if ya do that sort of stuff. But the extra's ya need for quilting, like a walking foot and free style foot, and the programs can really add up. It is a computer as well, that runs the stich programs.

I got your block done LOL I can't wait till I get your name. I will have to post pic's. I did two and will have to see which one ya like. who knows maybe I will get your name twice seeing as I am signed up 3 times LOL.


I am almost done with the 4 sets of 9 patches I am doing for Jody's swap. If my machine would just work right long enough for that I would be really happy. If it keeps it up I will have to take it in but that guy sure does take his sweet time about it. I really think it only needs a good cleaning. In the mean time I am with out a machine

I can not go that long without a machine I will have to make up my mind about buying that $3000 one soon, I just hate to put that kind of money into a machine but I do use my machine everyday. I will be getting my old one fixed when I get the new used one as it is a great machine, I have had it for 11 years without ever taking it in, shame on me.

I have 3 blocks to make for this months swap and it looks like they are all earth tones, should be fun. They will be done in the next week if my machine hangs in there. Then it will be the spring swap.

I am off to buy a new digital camera so I will be posting pics of just about everything if I find the one I want today. That means pups, chicks, and blocks LOL.

Trading fabrics and scraps with friends and neighbors if there were any close enough to get together with so they all had more colors to choose from... Also, on the snobbery note, it was a way to brag and show off their stitching ability without saying a word! You better believe they examined each others' blocks for tight stitches and straight seams.

Hehe, once a top was ready to quilt and bind, there could be more getting together for the actual quilting! No one could criticize them for sitting around together and chatting while they worked right? They were working after all! heheh. Of course when it took hours in a buckboard wagon to get to a neighbor's, you had to make a day of it, or gather at church, and again, who could criticize THAT?

Quilting was always a practical way to express creativity and display ability, while the sharing and enjoyment meant a good way of socializing. Using a machine might have made them faster and more independent, which would have helped on the practical side... and they'd have JUMPED at being able to use them!

We have the internet and the telephone and easy traveling ability to enable the socializing part!!! If only I had room and money for a machine, they're getting more reasonable in cost though, so we'll see.

Thanks yall for the tips and ideas. Was trying doing anything BUT the 9patch. I know simplicity goes a long way, but I just wasn't a big fan of going, "look! I can attach two sides of each block, and viola!"
I try to make it as impossible as it can possibly be. lol Guess I'm off to find a different pattern. lol

Thank you! The chicken print was the one Scrambled thought was 'gothic' looking, the black actually has greyish silver scrollwork. I had forgotten I had the plain white until last minute, it was one of those things like.. heeeeeyyyyyy! I could use that! lol

I think I'll try doing a bow tie block. lol Is that harder then Aunt Dinah blocks? lol
