2009 Quilt block of the month - February

Jim will sit at the puter, watching tv, so it's easy to distract him, and get in his way. Especially while playing games on the puter, somehow or other, my sewing style (stutter/stop) just drives him bananas! Then of course, I have the extension cord stretching right in his walkway. The iron is sitting right behind his chair.. I just make him miserable! How I love it!

I finished the rag quilt Friday.

It has 99 squares and no two are the same. It is to be raffled off for The Relay for Life by our church team. I tied each square in 5 placs instead of sewiong an X on them.

When I made my frist demin quilt 12 years ago I ask one of my DS teacher to put a note in the teachers work room asking for old worn out out grown jeans. I got enough to do 2 quilts in no time. This time I posted a note at church. One lady has a denim couch cover for me

Chevygirl----I am going to make an announcement for those who want to do more than one block to let me know next month so I can put your names in as you as you all ask me to.

If I try to fit you all in now it will get out of control on this end, so let me know next month one at a time.

Plus, did you get all your painting done at the new house and what are you decorating you kitchen in?

There is really nothing wrong with 100 dollar sewing machines. They are basic and sew very well. Of course you will have to thread your own bobbins, play with the tension, snip the thread yourself, thread the needle yourself, etc.
Then there are the quilting queen sewing machines usually for 1000 dollars and up. They are all absolutely stunning machines. You may want to shop around and actually sew on one at a store.
I have a Brother that cost me $1,000. It does everything but make coffee, I chose not to pay for the embroidery machine which was more. My gf at the time bought a Pfaff for $2500.00 to keep up with her new snooty friends. Anything less would be frowned upon. Both machines were outstanding. The only difference was that mine cut the thread and threaded the needle, and hers had a foot and that thing that moves the material along that were designed to move your material straight.
If I had to buy a machine all over again, I'd buy the same. The only complaint I have is that it likes that expensive German quilting thread!
