2009 Quilt block of the month - February

One thing you can do that might help in the short term is to get some canned air, the kind in the computer sections with the long tube that aims and concentrates the air... blow all the dust and fluff out of it that you can easily get to.

Don't overdo it though!! That air comes out quite forcefully, and you -CAN- overdo it! It does help get and keep the excess chaff out of the works though, in between actual cleanings. (which should probably be scheduled for canning months! lol )

skand.....I received the block in the mail today. My daughters couldn't believe that you sent me your first ever quilt block, they were amazed at how good it was and my oldest said if it had been hers I would've just done without.

The girls actually stole the first two I did. That was the first semi-passable one, so you are just as special to me as my girls!

Can I join the "earth tone crowd?:" I'd love to do a few blocks...
I should SO not be doing this right now, but I was told I need to learn how to have fun on the weekends, and sewing is one of my favorite pastimes

Let me know who to swap with at first! Do I post my address here or send it privately?

Pros? Pros? Where are the Pros? I certainly don't see any because we all make mistakes. hehehe

You know, the pros, the ones that know the answers to all my ridiculous questions. The ones that offer a few helpful tips and a lot of needed advice. Does the measurement ordeal ring a bell? lol Any of you that know what your doing,. is considered a pro to me!

Oh YAY!! Another Victim... I mean friend!!! Yeah, FRIEND!!! That's the ticket!!! Acre of Blessings and Wildskye will hook you up!! I'm guessing you'll have to wait for the 'March' swap since February is closed I think.

I personally love it when people ask for 'earthtones' since that's what I have a lot of fabric in, and my stash will fit it for making blocks for them... though that's also why I asked for cheery, light spring colors to force me into a different 'mode'!

Do I need to say if I'm just staying in for March with one block only AofB/Wild? I'm trying to stay sensible!!! (you have no idea how hard that is for me!!!)

And skand.... Not so many pros, just some with more frustration under their belt, and it seems to me that you are learning so fast, you cannot be considered a beginner for very much longer at all!!!

Knowing how to pick colors seems much harder to me than the simple mechanics of cutting and sewing, I stare at my stash with horror trying to imagine getting colors to work!!!!

Is anyone else hanging laundry outside today!!! Winter is taking a mini-break in Northern Ohio today!!! I'm outside taking advantage of it!!!

Cheers to you all!!!!

Lol... I was just teasing about wanting to be after Felicity because I want one of her blocks! She did such a great job! Sorry... I know I am waiting for the March swap thread to sign up again.

All the painting is almost done.

One more coat of paint needs to go on one wall in the kitchen, but it is waiting for my dad to finish up moving the cold air return on that wall. We also have to paint the bathroom yet (Still making up my mind on the color... I have a pretty farm shower curtain and we're trying to pick a color that looks good with it AND the tile floor in there). Otherwise it is all painted!

As for my kitchen, it's painted a warm brown and there is one wall painted red (I wanted all red, but we decided it would be a little much). I don't really have a specific theme for my kitchen... my whole home is usually decorated very country and antique-y with lots of farm influence.

If that makes any sense! I use old crocks to hold my wooden spoons, spatulas, & other utensils. Old tins hold my cookie cutters and stuff and serve as decoration, too. I have several antique wooden rolling pins (I use them and use them for decoration). Once I get it all organized and decorated, I'll have to share a picture! Don't worry, I'll share a picture of my office/sewing room when it is done, too!!
