Come to find out the birds she accquired were carriers of some sort of disease, or had been exposed to birds that were carriers. Long story short, the State showed up 2 weeks later with space suits and gas masks and destroyed her entire flock while she stood around and watched.

This is why I cringe when I see 'Swap Meets' or anything of the sort.

I have some real nice Parlor Tumbeler pigeons avalible. If any one might be intersted.

They need to be kept in a small cage like a rabbit hutch. The smaller cages make them fell more comfterble.
They are easy to keep and low maint.

They will stop flying at about five months old. Then they will only tumble when you put them on the ground. They jump up and do two tumbels and land on there feet. These birds are grate for kids. They love to walk around and peck at the ground. And they can be played with and wont fly away.

Your friend's situation doesn't sound like it is related to Fowl Registration, but was a biosecurity issue.

Same thing happend to a friend of mine when she picked up a bird at a swap meet. The bird was from a reputable, registered seller, but her birds had been exposed to LT (Infectious Laryngotracheitis) at a show.

Friend's bird contracted LT and everyone she was in contact with that saw her bird was visited by the guys in space suits. If even one bird tests positive, TAHC will depopulate all birds on the property. (You could have baby chicks in the house, and they would go too.)

Everyone has to be very careful when it comes to biosecurity.

I only keep the Parlor Tumblers, and I also keep Texan Pioneer pigeons. They are a meat utility breed. And of course lots of chickens. I will post some pics of the young birds when I get home. If any one wants to see them.

It looks like we won't be able to make it again this year.

I thought for sure I could swing it this time with Memorial Day and First Monday Trades Day in Canton being on different weekends, but I work on Saturdays now, and I just had some dental surgery, so I have to take off this Sat, & I just can't take off 3 Saturdays in a row.
I was so looking forward to it.
