2010 HomeMade Chicken Incubator Contest - Win $20 Gift Cert. Ends 9/12

I can't put pictures on any of my pages!!!!!!!!!! I've copied the URL from my BYC uploader tool, and when I paste it, nothing shows up....I also tried copying and pasting it directly from my files, and that doesn't work either......I REALLY want to enter my incubator, can I just make it a post? chicken boy sam

on the edit page you have three lines of tools, the first line has the disket Icon the second the Scissors Icon that the line you will find the insert/edit icon wich looks like a tree. click it and you will get a small window pop up, on the general tab is the first entry box is where you put your url there. sorry if you already knew that but since Im helping might also be of use to some one else latter. after that the pic should preview in the insert/edit window. if not the url is messed up. on the up loads page it kinda like photo bucket and such it adds tags for shareing.

the thumbbox give you this-

the image this-

as you can see if you copy the thumb box of your upload page it doubles up and adds extra tage you dont need and wont work with the page maker.
the image one is the url with the image tag, much easier to edit.

just eliminate the tag > should look like this then.

if you are doing a lot of images I found it easier to open a notepad and draft out my page then use the page maker. you can add all you page text as well as image urls. I used the find/replace feature in note pad to get rid of all the tags at one time. in other words find- [img] replace with - leave blank and quick spell check and your done.

lots of other tools on the app I didnt play with and unsure of function sure some are self explanatory but this should help get a basic page up! good luck and hope it helped ya.

When I click on the tree nothing pops up... But when I first click on "edit page" it says the safari support is very limited. I think that has something to do with it.

Not going to enter the only incubator I ever made because.... it was umm... 18 years ago.

I was going to professional school and the one summer I was going to have off I worked as a park naturalist north of Memphis, TN. Nearby was an exotic animal farm and they had lots of Pekin ducks that would lay their eggs all over the place. In bushes, on the shore and they'd roll into the water, etc. They let me take 4 eggs back to my apartment.

I took a 97 cent styrofoam 6pack cooler and put an inch or two of water in the bottom. I put the top of a "bug cage" (those plastic aquarium things from WalMart) upside down above the water. I placed the four duck eggs on that, marking them so I knew where I was in my turning. I followed a 4H publication on temp and turning. I put a nickel on each of the top corners of the ice chest and placed a piece of glass on top of that. I had the guts out of a lamp, and suspended the lightbulb above the glass(outside the bator) until I had my temp right.

I would open it to turn eggs and add water if needed. Two eggs didn't make it. One developed but never pipped, and one hatched and was my little buddy until I took him back to the farm.

Sorry if this post shouldn't be here. Nuke it if necessary. Just a trip down memory lane.

I figured it out! I needed to use Internet Explorer instead of Google Chrome.....I'm working on the page right now......

Hey chicken boy sam I looked at your little incubator and it looks pretty good. Just wondering though I didn't see any air holes or water for humidity. Have you tried it out yet?

Mine for one I hope :)
Tomorrow is day 21 and last night I noticed I have one egg pipping 2 days early is that normal?
A few are rocking some but the one is really busy I'm hoping the little fellow is doing alright in there LOL I guess your not supposed to assist in any way?
My last exp with incubators was when I was a kid and my Mom did most all of what was done so don't remember a lot of the finer points except that we seemed to get good hatches (that was like 32 years ago

I'm excited about tomorrow and not sure what all to expect I have the camera ready if I can get some more pic's to add to my incubator page, Keeping my fingers crossed :)

Since I posted this a little while ago I have had my first hatchling

it's kinda early I would think and it still has some of the yolk sac protruding about a quarter inch in diameter, I hope that's not going to be a problem, Any thing that should be done? or just wait and see how well it is absorbed?

I know it's only the first egg to hatch out of the Iron Hen but I'm considering it a sucess

Thanks for all the help and answered questions from everyone, The site here has been a great resourse for learning what I needed to know, EL
