Make a lot more room for everything else by getting rid of the Games, Jokes section. It would also remove some of the kids who are only here to play.
Maybe a method for marking ages under 18, over 50, etc. This way you know if you are getting advice from someone who obviously could not have that much experience in life or with chickens.
Or give the youngsters an area where they can discuss there animals and chickens separate from the adults. It really is annoying to see people asking they same question 10 times in one day.
Thank you for a wonderful, helpful and friendly place to learn.

Umm, sorry, i am only in my teens, but have been around chickens for 13 years, that's almost my entire life... And the new users asking those questions are a mix of ages.

Whoa there Nobody else on BYC really should agree with you, and if they do, LISTEN UP: Why would you get rid of GJF if you KNOW Kids go there to Play? If you don't like that section, then, Easy! Stay Away! It is a SOCIAL Section, FYI
All advice is trustworthy. A fifty-year old may have owned 100 chickens in his life, and a 15 yr old 1,000 and know more. Also, there is no Age marking on BYC.

Whoa. That is harsh. Like Kids don't know anything? BYC is a friendly Community, not a seregated Adult/Child War Zone. By asking Q's, we learn stuff. I don't see anything wrong with that, do you?
And lastly, your welcome!

I'm a GJF, a Kid and PROUD
I totally agree with 44Wolves. But on the other hand, I also agree that sometimes some of the threads in the games/jokes/fun forum are a bit childish and unnecessary...But hey, as long as it's not going against the BYC rules and it's in the right forum, then the younger BYC members have the right to create as childish and pointless threads as they want. AS LONG AS THEY ARE BYC APPROPRIATE. If you find them too childish, then don't visit them. Plain and simple.
I myself try to visit all parts of BYC. I visit the more, as you referred to, "adult" (a.k.a "mature") forums to offer advice and any knowledge I have, and I also visit the more, as you said, "youngsters area" because while there are many of the more child-like threads there, I enjoy reading through them and not constantly reading about all the other "adult" topics that sometimes tend to be rather depressing. You know, sometimes reading through all these "adult" topics that you may have categorized (for example family issues, worldy issues, politics, etc.) tends to get a little boring. And I'm NOT saying that that's all there is. There are more threads that you may consider "adult" that are an enjoyment to read through, and there's nothing wrong with any of the 'depressing' threads'. But if all there were on BYC were adult topics, and no place to just have a laugh once in a while, I think that you would probably lose quite a few members (especially from the younger age groups). BYC wouldn't be as fun and entertaining. I mean, I would still come and visit, but there would be no place (such as the Crazy Pullets) where I could just chat with some BYC friends, unless you want people going around and creating random chat threads in the Random Ramblings section (if you haven't already categorized that as being "immature" and "out of hand", already, that is
).
So what I'm saying is that while yes, some of the threads that are being created by the younger members do tend to be rather superfluous and overwhelming, as long as they aren't going against the BYC rules, I don't see how they are a problem. If you don't like it, please just do us all a favor and don't go there. If you think that the younger BYC members' knowledge is so limited that they should have their own "child area" and should be limited from learning about more mature topics, or more about chickens in general, then I think you should think again. Because knowledge is not based on age.
Nifty, I love that you listened to us and created the alternative Recent Posts - thanks for that. Would it be possible to put a link to it next to the current Recent Posts link so it is easier to access though? Unless I am being totally dumb (highly possible) we have to find thread that you first posted the link in and click on it every time? Thanks.
An egg calculator, where we can all add the number of eggs we get on any given day (3 of 6, 9 of 10) etc. This number can be captured and could create a graph to show general laying trends.
Would be nice to have a state by state listing the hometown of members and all the various breeds of not only chickens but other birds/livestock that they raise. That way those that are interested could submit this info and when someone is looking for a particular item in their area there would be a way to source it. Just my two cents worth...
