2012 Texas Chickenstock - May 19, 2012 -

SIgn me up! Not sure how long the drive would be from Wylie...

I'm going to take a guess that it would be about 4-5 hours for you since you are about an hour north of me and it takes me a good 3-3.5 hours to get down there taking 45 and cutting across. Taking 35 down is just miserable and not generally worth the effort. The speed limit on 45 was increased to 75 mph so it should be easier driving fast and not having to worry about too many radars.

2012 Texas Chickenstock is only 9 days away ! Rain or shine...

We are again combining Chickenstock with the May meeting of the Austin Backyard Poultry Meetup group, so you should see lots of people you know if you live in central Texas.

This is a family and friends affair. Show up around 11:00 am with a side dish or dessert that will feed your family + 4 adults. I will have plates, utensils, napkins, ice, coffee, tea, and water. If you prefer a different beverage, bring it with you.

Please do not bring any dogs or other animals.

This Chickenstock is not a swap meet, but if you make arrangements in advance to exchange birds at Chickenstock, that is OK. Just don't bring any birds to sell on speculation.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at:

The Allen Wranch
3801 Lime Kiln Rd.
San Marcos, TX 78666

If anyone wants to do one of these in the Dallas area... We can use my place. Ive got two acres just outside of Wylie if anyone is interested ;)

I cant do such a long drive to get to this one. Everything is texas is so far!

After you live n TX a while (particularly in the country) - "far" isn't what you originally thought it was. You get accustomed to spending a whole day driving into the city for errands/things you can't get "locally", driving 5 hours one way and never leaving the state just to pick up some chickens at the breeder's place, etc.

We haven't been raising chickens long and have only meet one other from here, Melissa Rose, but we hope to meet others from here and get some more great chicken knowledge. We have been trying to get to as many events as we can to learn all we can, so far we have been to the Funky Chicken Coop Tour and to the Brazos Valley Poultry Trade days.
I hope to meet you all
