March seems foreer from now! HaHa!yes, my 3 year old is being more patient than me. He said the other day"Mama their in the mail, it's OK". April is forever from now.
my little campines are actually quite tame. They are cold hardy and lay a pretty nice egg as well.I'm thinking about getting some Easter Eggers, Speckled Sussex's, Buff Orpington's, Barred Rocks and Australorps. But we'll see! I haven't ordered them yet, because I can't make up my mind!
I want some beautiful colored hens, and they have to be good with hot and cold climates, because Michigan's weather is VERY un-predictable. Sadly I was given a 10 chick limit by my parents because I already have 15 chickensSo i'm going to get 5 different breeds, and two chicks per breed. I also really want some Campines, but I read that they are a very flighty and non social breed.
Alright. I might get two or three Campines. Do they do okay with hot weather? Because summers can get pretty hot here. We have a very large tree right by our barn that provides lots of shade, and my chickens spent most of the summer under it this year, and it seemed to help. The breeds I have are pretty hardy when it comes to hot weather though. How do your Campines do if it gets warm?my little campines are actually quite tame. They are cold hardy and lay a pretty nice egg as well.
I'm new here and just got my first chickens of 2013 and first in my entire life. They are brown leghorns(2), Easter Eggers(3) and a crested assortment(5 polish and 1 I can't figure out) from my local feed store. Friday I will be ordering 2 Blue Andalusians, 2 Salmon Faverolles, 2 Delawares, and 2 Dominiques. My little girl who is 7 wants me to get her some red frizzled cochins and Mille Fleur D'Uccles, but I think we'll wait until this next batch gets a bit older. Maybe June when school gets out.
I'm getting them just a little bit after you 3/25/13!Those are all awesome breeds! The only one that I discourage is the silver laced wyandotte. I had two, but I rehomed them because the were way to skittish and un-friendly. I would even hold them or let them out everyday to make sure that didn't happen. But that's just my opion.
But anyways: I am getting 3 new chicks on either March 11, or 18 th. The breeds are a Black Astralorp, White Jersey Giant, and a Buff Orpington!)
