2013 Chicks Picked Out!

Hi:

Got my 'starter kit' at a local outlet: x2BOs, x2GL W's, and x2 SG Dorking...all female....all doing well.

Wow -- where did you go that they had Dorkings? My hubby has wanted one ever since he heard the name (just so he can point her out and tell people that she's a dork). They're lovely birds, though!

Here is what I am picking up on March 16th 2013 from Townline hatchery in Zeeland Michigan.

3 new hamp red
3 isa brown
3 rhode island red
3 light brahmas
5 barred rock
3 buff orps
3 black astralorps
3silver laced wyandottes
3 Gold laced wyandottes
All pullets.

and 2 barred rock cockerels

and 4 broad bronze turkeys

Looking forward to the experience and some yummy brown eggs!

Just ordered my first baby chicks last night!! I ordered a 10 chick assortment from Taylor Hobby Farms since they're local and I can pick them up. I'll have the possibility of any of these breeds with at least 3-4 chicks being specialty breeds: French Black Copper Marans, Blue/Black splash Jersey Giants, Buffs, Ameraucanas, New Hampshire Reds, Buff/Gold?Blue Laced Brahmas, Barred Rocks, Blue/Black Barnevelders, and/or Blue Wheaten. My babies are due April 1st!!

We just got our first ever chicks yesterday
2 barred rocks and 2 barnyard mix that we think are Wyandotte X either EE/maran and the other is a EEXMaran apparently the wrong roo got out at the wrong time....we are going back in a couple of weeks to get 2 americauna and 2 buff orphingtons and we are kicking around the idea of 2-3 seramas just for fun
and I friend just offered us a free red silkie banty...she hatched too many reds she says. I'm so excited but I'm wondering if we went a bit overboard. 12 chickens is a far cry from the 5-7 we were originally thinking...but I have to keep reminding myself that they are straight run (except the silkie) so we will probably have a few roos in the bunch for the table!

Got my feather leg one day special from Ideal in TX in 16 hrs all the way to Va. Jan 31 now have order in for 20 silkies 5 white, 5 blue.5 red and 5 lavender or any extra lav they can give me. they will be ready March 15...and getting 3 Dominique, also known as Dominicker or Pilgrim Fowl, is a breed of chicken (Gallus gallus) originating in the United States during the Colonial. It is considered America's oldest breed of chicken
and 3 Silver Laced Wyandotte from southern states.

I did! Mystery eggs were hatched by a first-timer and she had the chicks on craigslist. I picked out three that had feather legs. I think they are all cochin mix, 1 is possibly a Australorp, 1 maybe a black cochin, and one that is a little smaller, grey and white, possible frizzle, and has the cutest eyelashes!

I also picked up two true Ameraucanas from a local breeder. One is blue and the other is possibly a blue splash. They are adorable! Will post pics soon!

Ok I'm getting 4 dorkies from a breeder I love dorkies
