Ordered my first chickens a couple of weeks ago, they arrive in June!!! Ordered 2 EE, 1 Salmon Faverolle, 1 Colombian Wyandotte, and 1 Barred Rock. Can't wait!!!! Have been happily planning the coop and run with my honey along with our garden (we just moved into a house from an apartment late last summer). So much excitement!!!!

I origianlly wanted some silkies but I researched more and learned they are not very good egg layers. I searched around and found some Buff Orps and Amerucaunas at my local feed store. Not TSC! I do not like my local TSC at all. I got three of each and they are currently living PEACEFULLY with my two week old RIR and BJG. They are 2 to 3 days old I believe

Silkies are definitely not good layers but I love mine, very nice personalities. Buff Orpingtons are great chicks in my opinion. I didn't have always great luck egg wise with Amerucaunas. But they are a good breed. That's too bad you don't have a good TSC, I love mine!

Bawk ... Is there an AA for chicken addicts?..I started out in Sept. 2012 just going to a chicken swap, because I wanted to get some the next spring. I came home with three. then i found Byc on the internet.I found a rare breed (cream Leghorns blue egg laying chickens)imported I ordered two. A week later i went to pick them up. they had silkies and I just had to get one. Then i looked at all the silkies onn the internet and found out I could not order silkies till spring. so come January i orderd Silkies. while i was looking for them I found a one day special for Featherlegs. Come jan 31 they came 25 of the cutest little fuzz balls. March I went to SS to get some more supplies . Chick days had to order 3 dominiques and found out you have to get 6 so also got 3 Silver lace Wyndottes. March 14 my 20 silkies arrived. they threw in 7 mystry red chickens, just to keep the silkies warm. the same night my son stopped by tsc told me they had the light Brahma's i had not gotten in my featherleg special, so he got 6 for me. SS called and told me the chickens I had said i wanted were ready to order how many did i want orderd 6 more for April 4, Last night I went to take my daughter-in-law to meet my son,after we got to our meeting spot he called and said he was going to meet us at tsc,,well I decided by now to get some more wire to enlarge the chicken run. his wife told him no more chickens till he gets them a coop built...so after they legt I got the 99cent pullet special......BWAAAK ....Are you keeping count? So i decided to start a page for Chicken Addicts. If you minght Be a chicken addict this might be the forum for you.

Omaeve-- i am also a chick addict- ordered 5 rhode island reds,5 red sexlinks,5 black sex links- they arrived from cackle feb.8th. One died that day,a red sexlink,i got a extra black sex link as a peanut,so total 6 Bsl,4 rsl,5 rir. Week later came home with 2 light brahmas,2 buff orps,2 americuna( i think they are Ee). Moved my big girls to the coop yesterday,came home with 2 Ee,2 barred rocks,2 polish. Total of 27 i had no clue what chicken math was before lol

i started with chickens 3/24 of last year. i started with 4 red sex links and 2 columbian rock cross chickens. well the 2 columbian rocks turned out to be roosters. i sold them. i got 5 oeg bantam hens. i sold the oeg bantams the other day. now i have 12 blue laced red wyandottes ordered. though a breeder. they should be shipped out tomarrow. i hope

. im also looking to get one dominique hen. im hoping to end up with 4rsl, 1 dominique, 5 to 6 blrw hens, 1 blrw rooster. im addicted. a bigger coop might be in my future. that chicken math gets me every time

Welcome to chicken addiction. I did not worry because I had an old meat shed to use as a coop but now buying fencing to enlarge the run .I have so many Breeds, I want to keep all the roos to grow out . I plan to select the bust roos for each breed and try cage breeding like I did with my first 3 chicks to maintain pure breeds.
