Mine are good layers, an egg a day. They slow down to an egg every other day in the Winter. I don't put a light or anything with them. The best thing about Orps, in my opinion, is their friendly personable nature. Even the roosters are friendly!I've never contenplated having orps, but now you've got me thinking. "Lavender orps", hey......... Are they good layers?
