2014 Hatchery Chick Orders

Did you not get one or pick one at checkout? I'd be calling them if you didn't pick a date since they ship year round, don't want to wind up with surprise chicks next week. I thought with Ideal the ship-date field automatically gives you the next available ship date when you check out ... or you can put in a different ship date you want (the site would tell you if your order was available on that date) ... there is usually also a box to check off if they should call if your order was available earlier?
I did, but I don't remember if that's a new thing this year or did they have it last year too? I ordered chicks last July and it said it was available for the next week, but the email they sent giving the ship date (after the order confirmation) said it was being sent 2 weeks after I originally planned, so I wasn't 100% if picking the ship date was the actual ship date. Thanks, I kind of hope that the ship date given when I was ordering was the actual ship date.
I think you should call them. I got my ship date from them within 24 hours a week ago.
Thank you

Does anyone know how long it takes to get a ship date from Ideal? I ordered 18 days ago and haven't received a ship date yet.
I preordered. They send me a email that I could have my birds on 4/30 and I had until 1/6 to order them or they would be sold. But I knew before and it was also confirmed when I called AND I requested to send me a email with the invoice.

I am completely undecided on what I will be ordering. We are thinking of adding ducks to our flock but haven't decided for sure. I will for sure order some bantams...no idea which breeds or colors. The only thing that's positive is we are getting a dozen broilers and will stagger the rest we need by getting them from TSC in small batches. I always order from Ideal. :)

I caught the bug. I am about to place an order for April Delivery from Ideal. 5 str run partridge Silkies (I need a couple hens for broody mama purposes in the future, and roo's will be rehomed), 2 Cuckoo Maran pullets, 2 welsummer pullets, 1 EE roo and 1 Welsummer Roo.

Am I crazy? Yup.

We must be sisters in a previous life. I ordered 5 partridge silkies, 1 black copper marans pullet, and the same roos. When are you getting yours? My silkies are for broody momma too, but any roos are prob. ending up in a soup pot of a local Asian familiy

I'll start. Today I placed an order from Ideal Poultry for 12 dark brahmas, 8 partridge cochins, and 5 bb red malays. All of which are straight run. I'm surprised how fast they have been selling, my chicks aren't supposed to be shipped to me until June 30th! It's going to be a LONG wait.

Its all worth the wait in the end.

I am waiting until April 23rd. I am afraid of the cold temps earlier than that, and I don't have time for babies at Easter. How funny that we are getting the same things!! I have 16 chickens already, surely that is enough right? Well… I want to operate on a closed flock, without an incubator. Therefore I need mommies. Who better than some fluffy silkies? Can't be white, we already have a hawk that has hit on white birds twice. Partridge it is! I have a SLW Roo, who is absolutely wonderful so far. He protects the girls and respects us BUT I would like more colorful eggs. I am super heavy in the white egg department and being an artist, I like naturally colorful things. That also explains the dark brown egg layer pullets. Any extra roosters might end up in our own soup pot! When do you expect yours? Love the Popcorn pic, btw!
