2014 New York Chickenstock

Wow!!! Looks like you have a great response so far! I would love to come (possibly bring 1-3 more people w me)! I haven't read through all the responses yet- Is there anything I could bring that no one has offered yet? I can definitely bring a couple cases of water to donate/free. I will probably try to hatch some chicks to bring/sell... do they sell well? I'm very excited about this!!!
Judy

PS- hoping to have pure brabanter chicks, black copper maran, salmon faverolle, easter egger, and maybe add some silkie crosses. Are there any interest in these breeds? any breeds that someone else is already bringing?

As far as I know this is how it works with the Chinese auction. Folks bring donated item and tickets are sold. The money goes to the Host and Hostess to offset the cost of rented tents and use of their facilities or whatever. So if you'd like to bring hatching eggs or chicks for that you can.

As far as food bring a dish to pass and/or you favorite dessert. Some folks have signed up to bring some basics like dogs and burgers. DW and I will be bringing rolls. See first post.

Tab you could always copy and paste the first posting and then add to it that way.

yes. I'll take some. GRIN. But seriously, I would love to have 3 - 5 Marans, any color. I want dark egg layers. (I don't care what the chicken looks like, I care about egg color only)

How are the favorelles with other breeds? I have a very mixed flock. And I'm looking for a white egg layer that will lay year round, my Anconas and Brown Leghorn are fair weather layers. Brabanters good?

We will be there Tabs!!! And of course I will be bringing Blueberry Buckle and something for the chinese auction!:p:/:p

The faverolles get along fine with my other hens- pretty passive, I don't think great layers but pretty, sweet, and good broodies. I let one hatch a clutch in the fall they are sweet girls. The brabanters seem to be laying pretty good still. It's hard for me to tell which eggs are brananter, leghorn or silkie since they're all together now.

Great!! I will def bring BCM then, maybe I will bring some BCM Roo over Welsummer, too :)

I also want to add that I'm considering taking in older, less productive hens for retirement for those who don't want their hens ending up in "the pot". pm me if you're interested :)

How is the egg color with your marans? Are they feather legged? I'm going to have a BBS copper flock this year and certainly wouldn't mind adding some new blood :) Might be interested in some brabanters too.
